We are kicking off our annual 2021-22 Art Lecture Series tomorrow night with Apsara DiQuinzio, curator of New Time: Art and Feminisms in the 21st Century (https://bampfa.org/program/new-time-art-and-feminisms-21st-century) and founder of the Feminist Art Coalition (https://feministartcoalition.org/)!

Lecture begins promptly at 7PM in Danforth Hall, located in the Aron Art Center. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status, and the lecture will be recorded and posted to our Vimeo page for those not able to attend in-person. https://vimeo.com/millsart

We are also excited to welcome Tabitha Soren & Sarah Thornton, Sadie Barnette, Alexx Temeña, Libby Black, Mimi Pond, Lava Thomas, Deborah Willis, Masako Miki, and Nicole Fleetwood over the course of the academic year.

The Mills College Art Lecture Series is comprised of the Corenah Wright Speaker Series, the Herringer Graduate Lecture Series, and the Jane Green Endowed Lecture in Art History. This year's programming was organized by a committee of our MFA Studio Art Graduate Students, the Studio Art and Art History Programs, and the Mills College Art Museum.

Hope to see you there!

Lena again showing my WIP.
Project 2: cultural object
Instead on choosing one object I decided to create many.
Objects are very significant to me because they have such a distinct connection to memories and moments of nostalgia.

Hi, my name is Lena Coletto . I am doing a of !

This is a finished piece I made before the shutdown.
Titled: Rusty

Project 1: fragmented body
I was thinking about the throat specifically and not being able to express yourself or speak your truth. Conveying the imagery of the throat through bodily, biomorphic, industrial pipe like forms.

Prospective MFA students are invited to receive direct and open feedback on their portfolios for application to the Studio Art MFA program. In the process, attendees will make connections with graduate faculty members and current MFA students at Mills.

If your portfolio is still in progress or you don't feel quite ready to apply to graduate school, we want to encourage you to attend this event and take advantage of this invaluable opportunity to get critical feedback on your work from faculty and gain the rare insight into what is resonating for others in your work. You will also be able to meet with faculty and staff to learn more about all of our MFA programs and the application process. Guest can also meet with current grad students at the Studio Art Open Studios and the Arts Open House scheduled the same day. Participants can submit applications up until March 15.

The Portfolio Review is designed to create more access and transparency around the Masters of Fine Arts admissions process. Attendees should come prepared with a portfolio of 10-20 images. (Please avoid bringing any 3D objects)

Digital images should be in .JPEG, .GIF or .PDF format, Video or Audio media should be kept to under 3 min total and be in a compressed .mov or mp3 format. Put all files on a flash drive in a separate folder titled MILLS. Printed images should be no larger than 11” x 14”
