What is the Math Lab?

The Math Lab provides vital services to the Peralta community. As a tutoring center, its main objectives are to assist students with mathematical concepts and provide a study environment, access to instructors, learning tools and work experience for student tutors. As a self-paced classroom, the Math Lab’s main purposes are to provide a course section that is flexible in terms of pace and scheduling and to provide an open-entry option for late starting students.

Services:
- Tutoring on a drop-in basis for students from all four Peralta
colleges
- Computers for math-related assignments
- Math textbooks and calculators on loan
- Enrollment in three math self-paced classes: Elementary
Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, and Technical Math
- Proctoring exams/tests/quizzes for self-paced classes
- Special accommodations for DSPS students to take math
tests when possible
- Learning environment for CalWorks and other students, and
reports of attendance

SELF-PACED "LAB" CLASSES

The Math Lab offers you the opportunity to take the following math courses in a self-paced format:

Course Number:
Math 210 ABCD Elementary Algebra
Math 211 ABCD Intermediate Algebra
Math 220 A-G Technical Math

These 4 unit courses are unique. Student enrols for one unit a time, having that unit completed student moves on to another unit. Eventually finishing the course in a time frame of one semester. Most of the work is done online, while quizzes and exams are taken at Math Lab.
