Entrepreneurship Club at Laney College is an organization that promotes economic independence in students. The organization was created as a way to help students recognize their self employment potential while they are still in school. Many students express an uncertainty about what they should do after graduation, and many also fear that the mountain of debt they accumulated will never be repaid.
The Club’s goals are to develop club members’ ability to recognize business opportunities on and off campus. Additionally, The Entrepreneurship Club is intended to provide a support system that the student body and the college as a whole can use. All members will benefit from the combined expertise of the entire network, which includes local real estate professionals, small business owners, tradesmen, artist, nonprofit organizations and more. To give students the most relevant business counseling, we intend to be a magnet for local entrepreneurs that want to invest in the future of Laney students by sharing their positive and negative business experiences. By fostering relationships with local governance and business entities, we will help students better navigate the steps to starting their own small business as well as growing it. We want students to make use of the knowledge that they are learning while they still have support from their instructors and professors. Fundraising effort will include on campus sales, event planning, grant writing and crowd funding. The Entrepreneurship Club will team with other departments and clubs on campus to provide workshops, mentorship, mastermind groups, and actual financial support to members who have well thought out business ideas. Innovation starts here: We must invest in, and support young people’s ideas! Our Goals:
