Did you know?📖
After years of restorations, the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo in Florence has finally unveiled Michelangelo’s "Deposition or the Bandini Pietà", the unfinished second of three Pietà from the great Italian painter and sculptor.👨‍🎨

Intended for his tomb, Michelangelo worked on the sculpture from 1547 to 1555, 50 years after his first Pietà, currently housed in St. Peter’s, and 14 years before the third and last Pietà, right before his death, now in the Sforza Castle in Milan.

It was believed that Michelangelo hit the second Pietà with his hammer out of anger due to its imperfection. However, experts debunked the myth, discovering flaws in the marble that led the artist to abandon his second masterpiece.
