Looking for support, connection, or a way to manage stress this month? 💙

As part of April’s Stress Awareness Month, University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension in Oconto County is highlighting local and statewide resources that support mental well-being—including a new opportunity through our local NAMI community.

April is National Stress Awareness Month, a time to recognize the impact stress has on our health and to take small, meaningful steps toward managing it. While short-term stress can sometimes help us stay focused and alert, ongoing stress can take a toll on both our mental and physical well-being—making it more important than ever to build healthy coping habits.

One helpful place to start is with the Top 10 “Emergency Stress Stoppers” from the American Heart Association—simple strategies you can use in the moment when stress starts to rise.

Managing stress doesn’t have to be complicated—small actions can make a big difference.

👉 Check back throughout the month for more tips, tools, and ideas to help you manage stress and support your overall well-being.

Farmland is one of our area’s most precious natural resources, providing the growth medium and opportunity for dozens of different food items and income for thousands of people involved in agriculture. Owning farmland provides opportunities for families to have income, recreation, and food production. Ownership also requires active management, to various extents depending on goals and situations.

Langlade County Land Conservation and UW-Madison, Division of Extension, are sponsoring a free workshop on Friday, April 10 specifically designed to help farmland, and forestland, owners and farms achieve their desired land management and economic goals. The workshop will be held in the basement meeting rooms of the Langlade County Resource Center located at 837 Clermont St., Antigo. Four pairs of topics will be on the docket, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding by 12:30 p.m.

Attendees will be able to hear directly from personnel who manage programs which offer assistance to landowners for various purposes, as well as better understand and gather resources that will assist in management decision-making within many different topics. Specific topics of discussion include:

+ Identification and management of terrestrial invasive species;

+ The farmland preservation program and how to apply for its tax credits;

+ Nutrient management: What it is and how it benefits your land;

+ Managed Forest Law and how forest management can help you achieve your goals;

+ Tax Incentives you may be missing;

+ U.S. Dept. of Agriculture programs available to help you meet conservation and wildlife management goals;

+ Farmland rental realities – values, contracts, and WI legal tidbits;

Attendance is free and registration is not required to attend. It is recommended that multiple family members attend, if possible, as two topics will be discussed each time period. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with first sessions starting at 9:15. All events are taking place in the basement of the Resource Center. If you have any questions about the event, or would like a copy of the program flyer emailed to you, contact Audrey Gossett at 715-627-6385, ext. 385 or [email protected] or Scott Reuss at 715-701-0966 or [email protected]

An EEO/AA Employer, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension provides equal opportunity in programming in accordance with state and federal law. If you need any type of language or physical accommodation to facilitate involvement in this program, please contact Stephanie Loderbauer at 715-627-6238 by April 6.
