Book recommendation of February- James by author Percival Everett. It is a rewriting of Huckleberry Finn from Jim's perspective.

Comments from current MENG Director Dr. Cumpsty: "One of the aspects of the novel I am so impressed by is the shifting diction: depending on who Jim/James is addressing his language and manner changes and this is captured so clearly in the structure of the language he employs. During a fever dream, for example, he debates the ethnics of slavery with Voltaire, Rousseau and Locke, and when Huck asks him what 'hierarchy' means, Jim replies "What?... Aint't no such word".
