Dr. Jim Hutchins from the Department of Health Sciences was recently named the 2022-2023 Ambrose Amos Shaw Endowed Chair for the Dumke College of Health Professions. This prestigious university research award provides support for faculty research and enhanced student engagement and collaboration.

"The very best thing about teaching at Weber State is that, as an open enrollment university, we provide opportunities that students would not otherwise have," said Hutchins. "We specialize in providing high-impact educational experiences (HIEEs), including undergraduate research opportunities. The Ambrose Amos Shaw Endowed Chair award will provide opportunities for even more students to work with me and Dr. Sandquist on exciting projects that will elucidate the basic mechanisms of brain wiring and recovery from injury. I hope to leverage this funding into more opportunities for more students to have HIEEs."

Join us in congratulating Dr. Jim Hutchins!

So proud of our graduates today!

We had winds like this about ten years ago. There was a lot of damage to the school and people’s cars. The chair of the department at the time, Marie Kotter, almost got blown away in the parking lot. Travis Price happened to be close by and helped her get inside. He applied for a position in the department not long after and is now the chair. He’s not sure if that’s good karma or bad. 😉

Stay safe out there, everyone!
