The Hispanic Heritage Month started and members of the WSU Ballet Folklorico participated of the Latino Parade last Tuesday September 17, 2026. Here are many opportunities where you can get involve, participate and embrace who you are!

WSU Hispanic Heritage Month, 2026 is almost here! We are supporting the Hispanic Area Council (HAC) which is inviting all to participate of this great event. Join us!
Note: No music, microphones, or signs allowed at parade.
Hispanic/Latino Parade
DATE: Sept. 15
TIME: Noon
LOCATION: Parade begins outside of the Miller Administration Building and ends at the Shepherd Union.
DESCRIPTION: Wear your traditional attire and walk with the flag that represents your heritage. Celebrate the heritage of countries including: Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, and Spain. Led by the Hispanic Area Council student leaders (HAC).

They are the student leaders that make WSU Ballet Folklorico.
-Jose (Ethan) Barut: Bachelor's in computer science, Programming Essentials. Magna Cum Laude.
-Maria Fernanda Jimenez Viquez: Bachelor's in professional Sales and Merchandise, Minor in Marketing. Cum Laude.
Elected by student vote as: Senator of Belonging and Engagement (Hispanic) during 2024-2025.
-Daniela Torres-Roe, Bachelor of Arts: English and Political Science. Cum Laude.
-Daniela Thompson: Bachelor's of Science, Zoology. Magna Cum Laude.
-Julio Valencia: Served as the appointed as WSUSA Senator of Belonging and Engagement (Fall, 2025). Graduated in: General Studies and associate's in architectural design. Valencia designed the WSU Ballet Folklorico, Graduation Stole during Spring, 2024. Hispanic Area Council active member from 2023-2024
-Reyes Salazar, Health Nutrition. Magna Cum Laude and Hispanic Area Council Active Member 2020-2022.
