Weber State University Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Department

Weber State University Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Department The MLS programs at WSU aim to provide the highest standards of education to future lab professionals

The Department offers two Medical Laboratory Sciences programs: A two year AAS degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) / Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), and a four year BS degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) / Medical Technology (MT). Each of these degrees is offered both as on-campus and online programs. Those interested in either the online AAS/BS in MLS program must be currently employed in a hospital or clinical laboratory.

F***l Fest 2026: K-POOP Intestinal Demon Hunters

Another year, another battle… and this time, our Clinical Microbiology students took on parasites like true K-poop demon hunters.

After weeks of collecting their own samples, the stage was set for an epic showdown. Armed with microscopes instead of mics, students tracked down the most elusive intestinal “demons” hiding in plain sight. 🪱👀

The competition was fierce, the vibes were immaculate, and the stakes? Legendary. Those who uncovered the most parasites earned the coveted F***l Fest Button a symbol of honor that will live on their lab coats and at graduation for years to come.

Talent. Precision. A little chaos.
Just another iconic year of F***l Fest.

Let’s hear it for all of our incredible undergraduate researchers! 👏👏👏

Students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences showcased their research at the WSU Spring Research & Engagement Symposium on Wednesday. This event is a culmination of all the blood, sweat, and tears that go into being a scientist and we are so honored to be part of that journey.

Shoutout to Hailey Robins, Amy Bills, and Jayden Jones, who took home an award for their collaboration with Dr. Gennie Parkman 🏆 Their project, “Variations in T-lymphocyte and Natural Killer Cell Populations Between the Melanoma Microenvironment and Peripheral Blood,” highlights the impactful research our students are contributing to the field.

So proud of this incredible work! 💙

Most students close out spring break by squeezing in a little more vacation…

Our Medical Laboratory Sciences research students closed it out by doing science. 🧪🔬

Back in the lab, running experiments, analyzing data, and pushing their research forward because curiosity doesn’t take a week off.

We’re proud of the dedication, critical thinking, and passion these students bring to the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences and to the future of laboratory medicine.

Not the typical spring break… but definitely our kind of fun. 💜
