Anderson-Woest Scholarship

The Dolores J. and Wilbur M. Anderson Joint Trust Successor Trustee, Sandra Woest and her niece, Sally (nee Woest) Beebe, are pleased to announce the launch of the Anderson-Woest Scholarship. This scholarship will be offered annually and awarded to one DePue, Hall, Mendota, or Putnam County High School graduate OR one IL High School Diploma completer through the Adult Education Program at Illinois Valley Community College. The recipient must enroll at Illinois Valley Community College.

The award is $1,000 each semester where the student is enrolled as a fulltime student, renewable each subsequent semester (excluding summer sessions), with submission of a renewal application, a letter reaffirming goals, and a transcript verifying fulltime status and a 3.0 or higher GPA. This scholarship offers a maximum of $4,000 for four semesters (at IVCC) toward completion of an Associate’s Degree or courses in a plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s Degree upon transferring to a university.

Completed applications with accompanying documentation must be postmarked by June 22 of the current year. Notification of the award will be made by July 20 of the current year. If these deadlines fall on a weekend, the deadline will be the Friday immediately before the deadline date noted.

Applications are available in the Guidance Counselor Offices at the high schools noted OR the Adult Education Office at IVCC.

This is what adult education can do.

A GED opened the door to a CDL, Agriculture classes, welding skills — and a stronger future for a family farm. Proud to support students who invest in themselves and our community.

Every educational journey starts with one brave step.

We are so proud to highlight one of our Adult Education students who earned his GED and didn’t stop there. After completing his GED, he was able to obtain his CDL license — at no cost — opening new doors of opportunity.

Today, he is continuing his education by taking Agriculture classes to strengthen his family’s farm business and welding courses to further develop his skills. His goal? To build a stronger, more profitable future for his family.

Education changes lives. We are honored to walk alongside students as they turn determination into opportunity.

If you’re ready to start your own journey, we’re here to help. Please call Kara at 815-224-0358 to take your first brave step.
