The College offers the Pharm.D. degree, and Pharmaceutical Sciences programs, offering M.S. degrees, on the OU Health Sciences Center campus in Oklahoma City. The University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy is committed to the education of professional and graduate students who, upon graduation, can meet the public need for safe and effective pharmaceutical care. The curriculum features the integra
tion of basic and applied clinical sciences. First year courses provide a strong foundation of basic science coursework and an orientation to pharmacy practice. Second and third year courses provide integrated learning opportunities through a series of pharmaceutical care modules organized around organ systems and disease states. The modules are an educational framework offering faculty the opportunity to link complex therapeutic topics in context with a given groups of diseases and apply that knowledge to concepts learned in prior courses. In addition to the modules, students in the second and third professional years complete courses in areas related to pharmacy and health care management, pharmacy law and ethics, communications, and applications of advanced practice skills. The fourth professional year is devoted to nine one-month experiential rotations, as a precursor to the careers in all professional practice settings in which our graduates are employed. The College of Pharmacy is part of The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, one of only a few comprehensive health sciences centers in the United States. It oversees the only nationally certified Poison Control Center in Oklahoma. It contains an on-site nuclear pharmacy at its Oklahoma City location. Focused on excellence, the College of Pharmacy provides numerous residency opportunities in ambulatory care, internal medicine, oncology, pediatrics and infectious diseases. Faculty research in cancer, diabetes, neurosciences and infectious diseases allow a number of opportunities for student enrichment. Additionally, students may choose to focus their electives in one of the available degree options which include leadership, ambulatory care, pediatrics, or nuclear pharmacy. Students can enjoy a variety of cultural programs available in both cities and within the state of Oklahoma.
