Troop A participated in the 45th Anniversary of the Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics which started in Olathe & made its first stop in Leawood. This year, Trooper Furnas participated as a motor unit blocking traffic for the runners.

It’s always a great opportunity to fundraise for the athletes & show them we support them!

Lieutenant Cory Beard and I are saddened by the news of our good friend, Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Gary Daniels. Gary loved his job & loved recruiting others to choose service as well. It was always a pleasure recruiting alongside Gary. Gary will be greatly missed.

The B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen Pro-Active Driving School is a free, defensive driving program. The school is designed for teenagers, ages 15-19 (16-20 in NC) who already have a learner’s permit or driver’s license and have at least 30 hours of driving experience.

🚨 NB I-635 at I-70 IS CLOSED 🚨

Both ramps from I-70 to NB I-635 are closed. Motorists can enter at State.

Load securement is important! Please make sure the chains & tie-downs are strong enough! Luckily there are no injuries, but it will take some time to get this cleared.

Earlier this afternoon, troopers were notified of a stolen vehicle taken during a home invasion that was traveling on I-635. When troopers initiated a traffic stop, the driver fled. The pursuit came to an abrupt stop when troopers deployed the Grappler. The driver was taken into custody with the help of multiple agencies.

The new traffic signals at 175th and I-35 have been damaged. Officers are on scene managing the traffic in the area, but are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible. We have KDOT crews on their way for repairs, the ETA is not known at this time.
