SPSCC is proud to host the Korean American Artists Association of Washington exhibition, From Hwagae Market to Pike Place Market, on display September 14 through October 16. Curated by Kellis Parlett, the exhibition brings together artwork that reflects immigrant experiences and cultural connections inspired by two iconic markets separated by time and place.

SPSCC was honored to welcome staff from U.S. Senator Patty Murray's office for a discussion focused on supporting community college students and strengthening Washington's workforce.

Catalina Amórtegui, Regional Director for Thurston County and the Olympic Peninsula, and Abby Laver, Legislative Aide, met with SPSCC staff and community partners from the Thurston County Chamber and the Thurston Economic Development Council to discuss workforce opportunities, student success, and the critical role community colleges play in preparing students for in-demand careers. The conversation also explored how federal policies and financial aid programs, including FAFSA, Pell Grants, and VA education benefits, impact students and employers across our region.

These discussions help ensure that the experiences and perspectives of our students, educators, and employers are part of the conversations shaping future policy decisions. Thank you to Senator Murray's team for visiting campus and taking the time to hear directly from our community!

SPSCC is proud to be recognized with the 2026 Pacific Regional Impact & Success Award from the Association of Community College Trustees! The award honors our commitment to expanding opportunity and helping students achieve their educational goals.

We're also thrilled to celebrate SPSCC Trustee Doug Mah, who received the 2026 Pacific Regional Trustee Leadership Award in recognition of his outstanding service, advocacy, and leadership on behalf of community and technical colleges.

Both SPSCC and Doug will be honored at the 2026 ACCT Leadership Congress in Chicago this October and will be considered for national ACCT awards. Please join us in congratulating Doug and celebrating this achievement for the entire SPSCC community! 👏💙

The article highlights a major milestone for our program: the first-ever public release of a student-developed b**r! Created by SPSCC student Martin Lee as his Brewing Capstone project and scaled for commercial production at Percival Creek, the Sour Saison showcases the hands-on learning and industry experience that set our program apart.
