Congratulations, Dr. Davies!

Congratulations to Dr. H. Dele Davies on his appointment as the ninth chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, effective July 1.

A respected physician, educator, researcher and leader, Dr. Davies has dedicated more than a decade to advancing UNMC’s mission and strengthening healthcare, education and research across Nebraska.

We look forward to the continued growth and excellence of UNMC under Dr. Davies’ leadership.

We are always grateful and humbled when the program is featured like this in the UNMC Connect Magazine. Thank you, Sarah Hankin, for capturing the essence of what we do for our students. And, another thank you to our alumni who agreed to be interviewed for this story. We are so proud of all of you!

Launched in 2010, the program helps teens chart their future by showing them a bit of everything in the health science professions.

Students in our anatomy class spent their afternoon using virtual reality to get a closer look at how our hearts work. Thank you to iEXCEL UNMC for showing our students how to use the equipment!

If you've ever been on campus and in the Sorrell building, you probably know about the C-Store. And, you have probably meet Tres. Today is Tres's last day working in the C-Store. She is transitioning to a different position on the other side of campus. We will miss seeing her smile, soaking up her positive attitude, and simply being in her presence. Good luck, friend. ❤️

Our alumni and current students slayed at the Nebraska State Wrestling tournament this past weekend. Huge shout out to them!

Congratulations to our alum Kalynn Lyons (Omaha Westview) on winning the Class A gold medal in her weight class! Congratulations to our current student Odin Anschutz (Plattsmouth) on winning the Class B gold medal in his weight class! Congratulations to our current student Millie Jensen (Millard South) on placing 5th in Class A in her weight class.

Due to the forecasted inclement weather, the UNMC High School Alliance will not have classes today, Thursday, February 19, 2026. This is a full closure. No remote learning. However, students, please check your Canvas accounts and check in with your teachers if you have any questions.

All interviews scheduled for today will be rescheduled to March 3. We will be sending out information about that as soon as we can. If you have any questions, please email or call the UNMC High School Alliance.
