Nick Kuttner working on a protein assay for hepatocyte samples with mentors Drs. Terrence Donohue and Li Yang. His research had to do with triglyceride buildup in liver cells due to ethanol exposure. Protein assays (as well as DNA assays) were used as standards so that they could compare triglyceride content among samples.

McKenzie and Dr. Bailey are looking at plates containing mesenchymal stem cell colonies that have been fixed and stained. McKenzie said "These plates were treated with different concentrations of alcohol. We are trying to look at whether or not the alcohol had an affect on the growth of these stem cells."
