The City of Omaha will host two public open house events to engage the local community regarding development of the Active Mobility Master Plan. The Plan will develop a vision for a more complete and connected network for walking, bicycling, and other “active mobility” travel modes serving all areas of the City. The Plan will propose and prioritize improvements including on-street bicycle facilities, sidewalks, crossing improvements, and trail connections. The Plan will also make recommendations focused on making walking, bicycling, and other active mobility modes safer, more comfortable, and more convenient. The dates and locations of the open houses are as follows:
Wednesday, November 9th , 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
The Venue at Highlander, 2120 N. 30th Street
Thursday, November 10th , 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, UNO, 6400 University Drive South
“The City is committed to providing safe and convenient options for all modes of transportation, including walking and bicycling. We look forward to working with the community to develop an actionable vision with specific projects and strategies that will connect people to complete streets and to trails throughout Omaha,” said Planning Director Dave Fanslau.
Members of the planning team will be on hand to answer questions about the project. Community members can share their views on current walking and bicycling conditions in Omaha and help shape the Plan’s goals and prioritization of improvements. The public is encouraged to come and go and does not need to stay the entire time as there will not be a long presentation.
