Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest academic honor society for the arts and sciences and has more than 500,000 members. It was founded at the College of William and Mary in 1776 and has 283 chapters nationwide. Supreme Court Justices, and more than 130 Nobel laureates are members of Phi Beta Kappa. Hello Creighton Phi Beta Kappa! Just a few updates from your executive team about our excellent year.
1. We inducted 30 students into PBK, as well as alumnus Dr. George Haddix. Look for pictures on this page soon!
2. Lizzie Erftmier completed a PBK writing internship through Phi Beta Kappa’s national office in Washington, DC. Congrats Lizzie!
3. Our spring colloquium on Free Speech and Safe Spaces was a success.
4. We welcomed PBK visiting scholar, Patria Wright, to our campus. She participated in a number of successful events around campus including a keynote evening lecture. Creighton’s chapter was been selected to receive another PBK visiting scholar in the 2017-2018 school year, Dr. George Dyson, historian of technology will be visiting on January 25 & 26, 2018.
