Calling all restaurant owners! The Quiet Bites project is underway! We are studying the noise levels experienced in restaurants and their effect on patron comfort and ability to comfortably hold conversations.

Interested in joining our free study? Send us a DM or find us on our website: https://go.unl.edu/quietbites

Results from this research will help to establish how restaurant noise varies with occupancy, seating density, and reverberation time. We aim to develop practical guidelines to achieve different acoustical environments. Restaurant owners, armed with these results, will be able to make intentional and strategic design decisions to shape their restaurant soundscapes.

Very proud of Sam Underwood and excited that he has returned to pursue his PhD in the Durham School's Architectural Engineering program!

Congrats to Samuel Underwood, a Ph.D. student in architectural engineering who was selected to receive two fellowships from Acoustical Society of America - the Leo and Gabriella Beranek Scholarship and the Frank and Virginia Winker Memorial Scholarship - that will greatly help with his pursuit of a doctorate.
