As a young boy, my Father tought me about wildlife , the respect for the outdoors and how to Pheasant, Duck, Partridge and Deer hunting. He also worked for Game Food Nurseries of Oshkosh for several years and had the oppor

tunity to buy the business when the owners wanted to retire. The oldest catalog that we have from the them is from 1929. They sold mostly waterfowl plantings at that time. My father would take me on consulting trips to teach me how to look at properties and suggest planting materials for the land owners. I learned what plants and seeds would work best in their area and can also do they same for you. We can also give suggestions for the design of ponds and wetland structures for you. I started working full-time in 1971 after I was discharged from the Armed forces. My wife Patricia, and I bought the business from my father in 1983 and have been running it ever since with our son, Paul, making this a 3rd generation business. When we started the major portion of our sales, were geared towards waterfowl planting. Since my family were always game bird and deer hunters, In the early 1970's we decided to add some mixes for the game birds and deer food plots and over the years have included plantings for deer, as well as, upland birds. I enjoy doing test plantings to see what the wildlife will eat and what they will just look over. Over the years we have sold plants throughout the United States and Canada. We have also supplied US Fish & Wildlife projects, National Parks, DNR projects, Ducks Unlimited projects, as well as, private landowners and Hunting Clubs wo want to improve their hunting and fishing quality. We participated in a Michigan State University test planting with our Drought Tolerant Mix. It was a 4 year study and our mix came in 1st PLACE! We work with many seed growers and try to supply the most highest quality seeds for our mixes. I have had the privilege of consulting with many property owners, giving them suggestions on what to plant and have viewed many beautiful wildlife enviroments from a couple of acres to 10's of thousands. I can't explain in words how much enjoyment I have for this craft and the great friends I have made along the way.

These are pictures of our annual controlled burn. We annually do a controlled burn with the help of our local volunteer fire department. Burning is great tool for improving wildlife habitat and controlling unwanted vegetation. Burning your area needs to be done carefully as things can get away from you very quickly. We greatly appreciate our Omro Volunteer Department assisting us in this controlled burn.

To have the best areas for hunting, fishing or just enjoy the plain soul relaxing pleasure of observing wildlife; all that is necessary is to start a growth of their favorite foods.

Provide food, coverage and a rest haven for wildlife, You will soon have wildlife in abundance. When ducks, geese or other wildlife stop on your waters or land and find little or no food, they go on their way in search of better feeding grounds. Did you know some of the best SWITCHGRASS varieties for Deer screen and Bedding are ready for pick-up or to ship, right here in our warehouse?

We have found that 3 varieties of switchgrass work well, two tall and one medium height, which are Shawnee, Shelter and Cave-in Rock varieties. The tallest variety is 6-8 foot tall, making it an excellent deer screen, while using a shorter variety will catch the taller grass during heavy snow and support the taller grass so it will not break.

Can be planted in Spring or Fall of the year. A "cover crop" of oats or wheat is recommended. We recommend planting 10 pounds per acre.
