Meet Us Monday
Meet Marissa Leraas, the Costume Studio Manager, entering her second year at Northwestern. She will be directing the Children's Show, "Squirrelock Holmes," this fall.
When asked about what she enjoys about the department, she said her colleagues and students are a joy. "They truly inspire me to be the best Kingdom-minded artist that I can be - and they're also just a really good time."
Marissa also discussed how her faith grows throughout her time working in the studio. "My faith is challenged prettyyyyyy much every day in this job. It's kind of difficult to be in a position where the fruit of your labor (in my case, costumes) is totally visible to everyone... like literally on a stage. And I think that can feel like a lot of pressure sometimes! So I have to remember - and the Lord humbles me a lot - that my responsibility is to bring my best to the table each day, with a heart longing to honor God and glorify Him, and He will make it excellent work."
Her go-to coffee order is "an iced vanilla latte (sometimes with coconut milk if I'm feeling extra) because it's dependable." It also makes her think of all the times she has shared one with her "sweet mom!"
