A defining moment for the Yale School of Nursing, and for the future of wellness.

We celebrated the launch of the new Center for Aging Well, led by world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Miia Kivipelto, the inaugural director and Rodman Family Professor of Gerontology at YSN.

The Center's vision is bold: to redefine what it means to age well by expanding health, wellness, and brain vitality across every stage of life.

The event also featured impactful TED-style talks from YSN faculty, who shared powerful stories of their work to improve health and wellness outcomes for people of all ages.

Thank you to all the thought leaders who joined us, including Howard Fillit, Matthew Clement, Rachel Whitmer, and Susan Reinhard..

👏 Big milestone for our GEPN students! At YSN’s annual White Coat Ceremony, they were formally coated—marking their transition into the Master’s in Nursing Science (MSN) program.

From 900+ clinical hours to simulations and skills bootcamps, their first year was nothing short of rigorous. As Program Chair Laura Kierol Andrews shared, nursing is “not just a profession, but a calling.”

Happy Healthcare Simulation Week!

At Yale School of Nursing, simulation is at the heart of how we prepare nurses to lead with confidence and compassion. Our Simulation and Assessment Lab gives students hands-on practice in realistic clinical settings with advanced technology – from high-fidelity manikins to VR.

Those experiences bridge classroom learning with clinical practice, building critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

We’re proud to highlight how simulation shapes tomorrow's Yale Nurses. Learn more about simulation technology at YSN: http://bit.ly/4nxMLEP

Reading for Change is returning as a community reading initiative designed to challenge perspectives, encourage dialogue, and inspire actionable change through the exploration of literature. Reading for Change: PDOH will foster a deeper understanding of the political determinants of health (PDOH), policy, and advocacy as we examine The Political Determinants of Health by Dr. Daniel Dawes.

As part of his presidential fellowship, Dr. Dawes is helping YSN embed principles from his book across every dimension of the curriculum – establishing a new groundbreaking academic concentration on the political determinants of health, laying the groundwork for the nation’s first interprofessional PDOH degree program, and forming partnerships with other universities to develop joint degree offerings. These initiatives position YSN as a model for nursing education and a catalyst for change across all health professions.

Faculty, staff, and students can register to participate in upcoming Reading for Change sessions: http://bit.ly/4n1W3Jj
