Eartha Kitt (left)

Eartha Kitt was an African American singer, actress, dancer, comedian & activist. She was best known fit jer sultry rasp voice and charming beauty. Growing up with a tramatic childhood & without patents, Kitt manged to make an outstanding memorable versatile career for herself. She was nominated for Tonys, grammys, and emmys on more than one occasion. She is exceptionally known for being the first black actress to portray DC Comic character, Catwoman, her profound music career plus her multilingual ability and her wonderful performances as an actress. In this generation, she is memorably known for her Christmas single “Santa Baby” and her iconic role as the famous Yzma from hit kid’s movie “The Emperor’s New Groove”. Even deceased, Kitt’s legacy continues to live on through the world today remembering her as a remarkable woman.
Juanita Hipps (right)
07/01/1912-02/25/1979
Juanita Hipps was a lieutenant colonel and nurse of the US Army during WW2. She trained as a nurse and joined the military when the war suddenly broke out and was posted to Bataan and Corregidor and became known as one of the Angels of Bataan. During her service, she promoted war bond drives and assisted with recruitment of more nurses. She was one of the first to be awarded her golden wings and and create and flight nurse program. Also during her time, Hipps wrote all about her experiences during her service which later became a bestseller which then turned into a movie. She then got promoted to a major and was awarded with the purple heart, bronze star, 3 presidential unit citations and campaign ribbons for the US & Philippines.
Few years later, Hipps got married has children and grandchildren. She still served by following alongside her husband on postings in the US, Iran, etc. As time marched on, Hipps decided to settle down, gain a hobby and then retire from the army. After her death, to keep her outstanding legacy and honor living on, the US Air Force presented a high level nursing award in her name, honor and memory.
