Today, the Call Me MiSTER program traveled to Cedar Spring Baptist, where we had the opportunity to share the rich history of the program, reflect on its impact on our lives, and discuss how we can continue spreading the love and joy that being a MiSTER represents.
A special thank you to Pastor Cummings and Brown-Mars for being a great friend and mentor and for inviting us to the church. Also We also had the privilege of learning about the profound legacy of Dr. Benjamin E. Mays, an experience that was truly life-changing. It was inspiring to deepen our understanding of our history and its significance.

This past weekend, the South Carolina State University Call Me MISTER cohort had the privilege of attending the South Carolina Alliance of Black School Educators (SCABSE) Conference in Charleston, SC. 🎓✨

It was more than just a conference—it was a powerful opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside passionate K-12 educators and administrators from across the state. From insightful sessions to inspiring networking moments, our students left feeling energized, empowered, and ready to make a difference in the classroom and beyond. 📚💡

A huge thank you to SCABSE for creating such a dynamic space for sharing ideas, forging new partnerships, and celebrating the strength of Black educators in South Carolina. This weekend wasn’t just about professional development—it was about building a community and reminding each other that the work we do truly matters. 🌟

Grateful for the experience and looking forward to applying all that we learned to continue making an impact! 🙌🏽

On behalf of the South Carolina State University Call Me Mister cohort, we sincerely thank Pastor Cummings and Mount Calvary Baptist Church for hosting us for church and dinner today. Today’s sermon on “It Makes Me Want to Holler” was profound. As future revolutionary educators, we will uphold the principles of 1) refraining from self-destructive behaviors, 2) prioritizing unity over uniformity, and 3) recognize that we will achieve more together than separately. Lastly, thank you so much to the elders who shared their lived experiences regarding the history and adversities of the P*e Dee area. Your resilience and stories have deeply inspired and enlightened us. Thank you so much again!❤️🐶💙
