Louis Stokes-South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation The Louis Stokes South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation (LS-SCAMP) is designed to increase the quality and quantity of URM STEM students.

The LS-SCAMP alliance is the longest serving and one of the only remaining programs in the state of South Carolina that motivates and trains undergraduate students to successfully achieve in fields where minorities are underrepresented. The Alliance, composed of twelve diverse and influential institutions in South Carolina is designed to increase the quality and quantity of underrepresented minori

ties (URMs) who complete baccalaureate degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The major goals of the project include:

Goal 1: Establish an international research program to enhance the quality of research experiences and to produce global STEM scholars

Goal 2: Increase the number of technical college (2-year college) URMs who successfully transfer to four year partner institutions in STEM through a regionalized technical college

Goal 3: Leverage resources among partner institutions to institutionalize successful components

Goal 4: Increase the number of LS-SCAMP undergraduate students entering graduate school to pursue the PhD in STEM fields.
