Here at Utah valley university in out transportation technologies program we have a class just for that! Don’t want to take a whole mess of classes just so you can take this one? This is the hardest stage of the process for me to stay patient. Trying to get the last few sand scratches out before going into the booth for color. Oh ya, and still finding little flaws to tune up. There’s always that little voice that says “No one will see it, it’s ok to leave that one.” I try to teach hunting for flaws is like catching pokemon. You gotta catch the all!

Getting the bolt on parts blocked out. This door still needs some fine tuning, but it should be where I want it after the next round of primer. Still lots to do, so I better get back to sanding.

Time to play catch up with the other bolt on body parts. The shell of this little Subaru had been blocked for the last time in 180. Now it will wait patiently.

Our little Subaru 360 is back in the booth for another round of primer. Next steps will be block sanding the car again and stepping through the grits from 180-600 to get it ready for color!

More booth time and more Subaru 360 parts making their way into the next step of the restoration process! There is still a lot to do before our car show on May 15th and 16th, but I think we will make it. Be sure to stop by the show to see this beautiful little car in person!

Skills USA 2026 has come and gone. This year the collision students did awesome! They took 2nd is estimating, 1st and 2nd in collision repair, and 1st and 2nd in collision refinishing. All of the students that competed for UVU have been practicing and working hard to dial in their skills for this competition.

Have you ever seen pearl bombing? One of our students wanted to pearl bomb his car, so of course we said “Sure! Sounds like fun, let’s do it.” We try to incorporate student vehicles into our curriculum as much as possible.

Our 1970 Subaru 360 project is was in the booth today. This was the second round of epoxy primer and then color build primer. Next is lots more block sanding.
