From our friends in the UVU Russian Studies program:

Better late than never… here is a look back at our Spring Break trip to the United Nations in New York City.

We are excited to announce that we will return to the United Nations during Spring Semester 2027 as part of Dr. White's Cold War: Culture and Politics course at Utah Vallet University.

Priority for participation will be given to students in the Accelerated Russian Language Program. Secondary priority will be given to students with previous Russian-language experience, with remaining spots open to other students enrolled in the course.

Most importantly, thanks to the generosity of the U.S. Russia Foundation, the trip will once again be fully funded for participating students.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to connect the study of the Cold War, diplomacy, international politics, and Russian Studies with direct engagement at the United Nations itself. More details about the Spring 2027 course and application process will be announced soon.

Fifteen Utah Valley University (UVU) students recently visited the United Nations in New York City as part of the university’s Russian studies program and Cold War course, gaining firsthand exposure to diplomacy, international affairs, and the lasting impact of the Cold War on global politics.

For our Global Engagement Recognition Lunch encompassing Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters, we awarded 19 new Global Fellows. These members of faculty either hosted a Global Spotlight event with their classes or arranged a UN International/ World Day event. 10 faculty members returned again to either host another Global Spotlight or to allow a Global Engagement Student Council member to give a presentation in their classroom.

For the 6 new faculty members that dedicated time and efforts on a UNESCO chair project, they were recognized with a Global Fellows award. Their projects took place in Greece, Indonesia, the Dominican Repbulic and Cameroon. 7 past awardees continued working on UNESCO chair projects in the Donimican Republic, Peru, Cameroon, and Thailand for a second year.

At this event, we also recognized the contributions made by our six Student Council members. Special thanks to Kaise, for her fabulous artwork promoting both UNESCO chair projects and Global events!
