Would you know what to do in a cardiac emergency?

National CPR & AED Awareness Week is a reminder that lifesaving action often starts with everyday people. CPR and AED training prepares you to respond when it matters most.

At UVU's College of Health and Public Service, many of our students develop the skills and confidence to serve others through programs like Paramedic, Police Academy, Firefighter Academy, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and more.

This week, take a few minutes to learn where you can receive CPR training, refresh your certification, or locate the nearest AED in your workplace or community.

We love hearing stories like Lauren Frederiksen’s, a graduate of UVU’s Dental Hygiene program.

Lauren once believed college was financially out of reach, but through UVU scholarships, she was able to pursue her education and build a future in healthcare. What began as a journey to gain knowledge has now grown into a career where she can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others every day.

Congratulations to the Utah Valley University Physical Therapist Assistant Program on officially receiving Candidate for Accreditation status from CAPTE.

This milestone represents years of dedication, collaboration, and vision from faculty, university leadership, healthcare partners, and community supporters committed to expanding healthcare education in Utah.

We are excited to see the inaugural cohort begin this fall and look forward to the impact these future physical therapist assistants will make through compassionate care, clinical excellence, and service to their communities.

"Effective April 29, 2026, The Utah Valley University Physical Therapist Assistant Program has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; phone: 703-706-3245; email: [email protected]). If needing to contact the program/institution directly, please call 801-863-6313 or email [email protected].

Candidate for Accreditation is an accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. A few recent grads with a quick shoutout to our Center for National Security Studies program and the faculty who helped shape their experience. Thank you to the mentors, faculty, and staff whose dedication to student success continues to make a lasting impact long after graduation.

If you’re a CNSS student or alum, we’d love to hear what the program meant to you or who made a difference during your time at UVU.

When seconds matter, EMS professionals are there.

During National EMS Week, we recognize the EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and emergency responders who provide lifesaving care and support to communities every day.

At UVU, our Emergency Services programs help students build the skills, confidence, and leadership needed for careers in emergency response and public service. We’re proud to support the future of EMS through hands-on education and training that prepares students to make a real difference.

Thank you to all those serving on the frontlines of emergency care.
