It is important for anyone entering the EM field to understand how the National Weather Service works closely with EM professionals to help communities prepare for severe weather. Recently, EMSA students had the opportunity to tour Hurricane Hunter planes for both the National Weather Service and the Air Force. We were able to speak directly to the professionals and learn about the work that they do.

EMSA students were given the opportunity to participate in a regional mass casualty exercise as both evaluators/controllers and as volunteer victims. These exercises are essential to public safety as they help hospitals and officials practice and improve their emergency response procedures. As future emergency managers, it is important for our students to experience these drills firsthand.

The tour will begin at 10:30, but you must be there by 10:25. We highly recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to account for possible traffic or getting lost.

The address will be sent separately to those who RSVP. We need to obtain temporary clearance from the NASA badging office, so you must be a US citizen and bring I-9 identification to the tour. (The RSVP form contains a link to acceptable forms of ID).

‼️RSVP is due by 12:00pm on Wednesday, April 17th. Please remember that this is a tour with a federal organization, you can NOT attend without an RSVP or the proper identification‼️

There are only 15 spots so don’t wait! The RSVP is linked in our profile. Go to our profile, and at the bottom of our bio you will see a link icon that says “linktr.ee/emsaucf and 1 more”. Click on that, and then click the docs.google.com/forms link.

Today, EMSA students had the amazing opportunity to take part in Seminole County's Full-Scale Exercise as disaster victims involving a downed airplane at Orlando-Sanford International Airport! EMSA's own Treasurer Tommy Robertson did an outstanding job organizing and directing this exercise through his internship at Seminole County's OEM!

These exercises are excellent opportunities for students to get involved in the field!
