Come join us for Lambda Chi Alpha's first annual Pumpkin Bust! The money we raise will go towards our partner Feeding America. They focus on feeding Americans who struggle to get meals every day. They provide food to 46 million people through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs in communities across America.
Last year after becoming partners with Feeding America Lambda Chi Alpha was able to raise 2.4 million pounds of food. This year we raised our goal to 2.5 million pounds to go towards Feeding America!
Every dollar counts! For $1 donated to Feeding America they can on average get 9-10 pounds of food.
With participation fee at $5 per person one team will help raise around 300 pounds of food for 'Merica!
Overview of Pumpkin Bust
Pumpkin Bust will be based on a series of events throughout the day, with points awarded for each event. The top three teams in each category will receive the amount of points awarded for that event. The winning team will receive a trophy. The events will be the following (subject to change):
Three Legged Relay Race
Using a pumpkin as a relay baton, teams will split up into three partner teams. Each partner team will have to run the course and handoff the pumpkin to the next partner team until everyone has completed the course.
Points Awarded: 1st (25 pts) 2nd (15 pts) 3rd (5 pts)
The Relay
6 person teams will pass their pumpkin in an over-under pattern from front to back. The last person will run up to the front and pass it back again until all six have made it to the front of the line. The team done first will be the winners. In the case of a tie, there will be another tie-breaking heat.
Points Awarded: 1st (25 pts) 2nd (15 pts) 3rd (5 pts)
Pumpkin Carving
Teams will be provided with a pumpkin and carving tools carve and design their pumpkin. One panel of judges will determine the winners of this event based on creativity and the overall look of the teams design.

Gathered Goods:
Because our event is helping feed America the teams to bring in the most donations of non-perishable goods will respectfully receive the following points.
Points Awarded: 1st (15 pts) 2nd (10 pts) 3rd (5 pts)
Rules and Regulations:
- The participation fee for each group is $30 per team (6 people per team).
- The Chairman of the Pumpkin Bust Committee has final say in any decisions on appeals pertaining to rules.
- Please do not obstruct other teams during each event, if this occurs, your team will forfeit their attempt in that event.
- All appeals are to be directed to the Chairman of the Pumpkin Bust Committee; appeals can only be made by the designated team captain and not by the Lambda Chi Alpha coaches.
- The overall winner as well as second and third place winners of the event will be named at the end of the competition.
Pumpkin Bust is an event where you will get dirty if you participate. Be Prepared.
