University of Maine South Asian Association of Maine To promote interest & understanding of South Asian cultures & provide occasions for friendship & cultural interaction among members and with the community.

We are a cultural representation of the SAARC (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) countries and are affiliated to the University of Maine at Orono. The primary objective of South Asian Association of Maine (SAAM) is to promote interest and understanding of South Asian cultures and provide occasions for friendship and cultural interaction among members

and with the community at large. Our members participate in various events across the University of Maine campus, including in-class guest participation, university events like Culture fest and brown-bag cultural discussions. South Asian Association of Maine (SAAM) members have a tradition of actively involving themselves in such events as an opportunity to enlighten the university community on the richness and diversity of their cultures. There are no fees required to become a member of this organization and it is open for students and faculty alike !
