UMaine Physics and Astronomy The Official page for the UMaine Department of Physics and Astronomy. Along with many labs designed into the research based curriculum for students.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy's Engineering Physics program is one of the first two to be accredited by the Engineers Council of Professorial Development(ECPD) in 1949. Ever since the department has maintained a strong curriculum in physics and select engineering courses.The engineering physics program has a very research based foundation. This is supported by The Laboratory for Surface

Science and Technology which concentrates in surfaces, interfaces, and thin film materials. The department also offers opportunities in certain branches of physics like Astronomy and Astrophysics.
