The Student Organization of Latinos (SOL) serves to promote student leadership and involvement by planning social and cultural events to educate the community about the Hispanic/Latinx Culture. Join the Student Organization of Latinos as we celebrate and honor the achievements and contributions of Hispanic/Latinx people during our heritage month and this year the theme: “Una lucha por el sueño Latino/A fight for the Latino Dream!”
These events would not be possible without the support and dedication of faculty/staff, departments, and offices who have graciously co-sponsored a variety of events. Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) takes place September 15 to October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community. We are kicking off Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month today at 4pm today at the Horizon Village Amphitheater Lawn with Latin Dance Lessons and Performances by Salsabrosa Dance Company and food provided by Los Tres Mañantiales.
The month also celebrates the independence days of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua on September 15th, Mexico on September 16th, and Chile on September 18th.
Again, thank you to the Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies, College of Nursing, Intercultural Engagement, Pepsi Fund, Women’s Soccer Team, and the Oshkosh Public Museum to help make it possible. All events are and open to the faculty, staff and students. For more information, please contact SOL at [email protected].
Hope to see you there!
