UWO- Oshkosh Department of Social Work

UWO- Oshkosh Department of Social Work Social workers are also concerned with the community or setting in which people spend their daily lives. The BSW has been fully accredited since 1975.

We teach students to willingly accept the professional responsibility to act as the “heart and conscience” of the profession, and to advocate on behalf of those who suffer discrimination and oppression. As one of the helping professions, Social Work strives to serve populations which are vulnerable, in need of basic services and resources, or attempting to make a change in lives. Positions in huma

n services settings address a wide range of issues, such as child welfare, chemical dependency, physical and mental health, aging, and corrections. As well as helping on a personal level, a career in social work can include working for social change, to benefit the larger community. The Department of Social Work, UW Oshkosh, offers programs for both Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and the Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees. The Collaborative MSW received accreditation in June, 2006 by the Council on Social Work Education. When posting on this page, please specify if you are posting about BSW or MSW.
