Hello,
My name is Tyler Borzick, and I am a psychology and women & gender studies major at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, working on my McNair summer research project with Dr. Juyeon Son (Sociology, School of Public Affairs and Global Engagement) studying how people are influenced by and learn from their parents. This post is to inquire whether you would be interested in completing an 8-10-minute survey (linked above). This research would aid in understanding how gender identity and trans identities are discussed among parents and children, and how it impacts children's levels of trans prejudice later in adulthood.
The concepts within the survey will be based on three categories: personal knowledge (e.g., There are only two genders: male and female), personal attitudes (e.g., Transgender people should be accepted completely into our society), and parental conversations (e.g., Where did you get information about trans identities when you were growing up?). The questions related to personal knowledge and attitudes will be in the form of 4-point Likert scales (strongly disagree to strongly agree), and the parental conversation questions will include Likert scale questions and open-ended, short-response questions.
If possible, the survey should be completed in an area with minimal distractions. The age requirement for participation is 18 and older.
Thank you for your time,
Tyler Borzick
