Excellence achieved!

From audio storytelling to sports video production, SUNY Oswego students are earning recognition for their outstanding journalism work.

Sophomore journalism major Addie and senior broadcast and digital media major Rob both earned first-place honors at the Syracuse Press Club’s Professional Recognition Awards for their sports journalism projects.

Their award-winning work highlights the power of hands-on learning, mentorship and storytelling at Oswego. Congratulations to Addie and Rob on this incredible achievement! 🏆

Happy to share we've climbed 13 spots to #35 on the Broadcast Education Association's 2026 Media Program Rankings. The BEA rankings are based on cumulative student success in the Festival of Media Arts, a highly competitive national juried competition recognizing excellence in areas like audio, video, journalism, sports, documentary, interactive media, and scriptwriting.

SUNY Oswego swept the student sports journalism categories at last night’s Syracuse Press Club awards! Congrats to Journalism major Addie Kotsol, who took first prize for Audio Sports Story. Broadcast and Digital Media major Rob Finger took first prize for Television/Video Sports Story.
