Celebrating the Class of 2026! 🎓✨
On May 16, 2026, the SUNY Oswego community gathered at the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall to celebrate three incredible commencement ceremonies.
We were incredibly honored to welcome back three outstanding Laker alumni who received SUNY honorary degrees and inspired our graduates as keynote speakers:
🔬 William F. Precht ‘79 | Director of Coastal and Marine Sciences at Bio-Tech Consulting (College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Engineering ceremony).
🌿 Indie Lee (Lisa Swengros Agona) ‘93 | Founder and CEO of Indie Lee & Co. (College of Business and Entrepreneurship ceremony).
⚖️ Steven Messina ‘91 | Global Head of the Finance Group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP (College of Communication, Media and the Arts & College of Education, Health and Human Services ceremony).

We are counting down the days until Reunion Weekend, June 4–7, in Oswego, and we are thrilled to celebrate a massive milestone: the 40th Anniversary of Alpha Epsilon Phi at SUNY Oswego!

Oswego AEPhi is just one of several incredible groups, Greek organizations and milestone classes celebrating mini-reunions on campus this year. Whether it’s been 5 years or 40 years since you walked the Quad, the lake is calling you home. All alumni are welcome!

Soak up the sunshine with a new book ☀️ 📚 The Oswego Alumni Book Club is a fun and easy way to try a new book and connect with fellow Oswego alumni. All Oswego alumni and friends are invited to join this FREE, virtual club anytime throughout the year -- join by Friday, May 22, to participate in the group's next reading selection: 'Custodians of Wonder: Ancient Customs, Profound Traditions, and the Last People Keeping Them Alive,' by Eliot Stein. Graduates, their families and the university community celebrated the 90th Annual Commencement Eve Torchlight Ceremony on May 15 with song, cheers and inspirational messages.

Katie Kranze Million ‘91, general manager for the 2026 gold-winning U.S. Women’s Olympic Hockey Team in Milan Cortina and director of Women’s National Team Programs for USA Hockey, shared lessons in leadership, stressing how success is built through consistent effort over time and showing up through challenges.

Student speaker Jonah Hawthorne ‘26 shared his own story of overcoming adversity and reclaiming his future. He urged his fellow graduates to “step into their punches” and use their skills for a better, more equitable future for themselves and others.

President Peter Nwosu shared the flame from the Torch of Learning with graduates, encouraging them to keep that fire for learning with them throughout their lives.

Tomorrow students will graduate in three ceremonies, alongside three alumni who will receive honorary doctorates: William Precht ‘78, Indie Lee (Lisa Agona Swengros) ‘93 and Steven Messina ‘91.

During Reunion Weekend (June 4–7), the Shaun Cassidy Fan Club/Oswego's Own Improv is bringing the fun back with a mini improv comedy reunion — and all alumni are invited to join in or enjoy the show!

Take the stage and reconnect with your creative side during an improv session from 1:30–3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 (Marano Campus Center, Room 211), then stick around for a free improv show at 7 p.m. in Room 132.
