On June 4, at the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services building in Albany, the Oswego State University Police were formally recognized as a New York State Accredited Law Enforcement Agency.

We want to express our gratitude to our two Dispatchers, CSSO Derue and CSSO Douglas, for their participation in this year’s Special Law Enforcement Torch Run - Special Olympics New York. We also want to thank the other participating Law Enforcement Agencies and the Oswego community for their unwavering support for this remarkable event and organization.

Last week we had a great time at the 2026 Public Safety and Armed Forces Expo. It was a fun, high‑energy event where we connected with New York’s future leaders and helped students explore the many career paths in public safety, especially the opportunities available with University Police. We’re always proud to support events that inspire the next generation.

We have such smart students here at SUNY Oswego! Chief Swayze was honored to be interviewed by CRJ 333 students Val Di Marco and Brandon Wilson for their paper on Crime Theories & Victimization. They discussed the intersection of why crime happens and how it affects those involved. The Chief talked about some of the diverse motives & mindsets behind criminal acts while investigating the resulting experiences of everyday victims on such behavior.
