Who: Ottawa University Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, and Jazz
Studies

What: Combined Spring concert, "Promenade".

Ottawa University students experienced a great masterclass and clinic from NY based pianist Wayne Hawkins. Wayne is a native of Kansas City and was a stalwart on the KC jazz scene for over 20 years. Thanks, Wayne! ✌️🎵🎹

We had a fantastic time in Wichita for the Kansas Music Educators Association annual conference! The conference showcased bands featuring Kansas’ top high school student musicians, clinics, exhibits, and the Kansas Collegiate Faculty Jazz Ensemble which included our Music Dept Chair/Director of Jazz studies, Dan Thomas. 🎷

Up next is our Spring Concert, “Promenade”, featuring the Ottawa University Concert Choir, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Studies Ensemble! Wednesday, March 11 at 7 pm in Fredrikson Chapel.

Our hearts and souls are full after the 2026 Ottawa University Jazz Festival! Last Wednesday and Thursday, February 18-19, we hosted over 20 regional high school (and a couple of middle school) jazz ensembles. Groups performed a 30 minute set, received a 30 minute clinic from professional jazz practitioners, and were treated to a concert by our world-class OU Jazz Faculty and guest artist, internationally recognized saxophonist, Isaiah Collier.

The 500+ students and their directors left campus inspired, educated, and fulfilled. We're so happy to have facilitated this event and hope you enjoy viewing the photo documentation from Steele House Photography.
