One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
He said to them, “When you pray, say:
“‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.’”
Luke 11:1-4
Today is National Day of Prayer. We have lots to pray for, over, and about at OU, in Ottawa, in Kansas, in the US, and all over the world. In the midst of all that is happening we often forget... prayer is conversation with God, our Heavenly and Holy Abba (meaning "daddy" or "papa"; Romans 8:15). All he wants is for us to come to him, sharing all that we are feeling, thinking, experiencing, yearning, dreaming, doing, and being. May you find the time, energy, and space to talk with your loving Dad today as we remember who he is, who we are to him, and how we were taught to speak with him by himself in the flesh, Jesus.
