Calling all students applying for the upper division portion UL's pre-licensure to BSN program! UL School of Nursing, Owensboro Extension will hold a virtual UD Application Workshop on April 24, 3 - 4 p.m. CST. This workshop is designed for those students interested in applying to the upper division program in Owensboro for Fall 2026.

Once applicants RSVP, they will receive the link to the Teams meeting emailed to them the morning of the workshop.
During these workshops, I'll review the application process with students, including what to write in the 500-word application essay, where to submit your Castlebranch background check, when to submit official transcripts, as well as discuss next steps submitting your application. Please feel free to bring your laptop and something to write with as you prepare to submit your application.

Our nursing students took their learning beyond the classroom and into the community 💉🩺
At the Pitino Shelter, they led health promotion teaching sessions focused on practical, real-life topics—helping individuals better understand ways to care for their physical and mental health. From education on infection prevention and chronic disease prevention to sharing resources and answering questions, our students stepped up with compassion, professionalism, and heart ❤️🖤
Experiences like this are what nursing is all about—meeting people where they are, building trust, and making a meaningful impact. We are so proud of the way they represented our program and cared for others today! 👏

Our 3rd semester nursing students facilitated art therapy during their mental health clinical, helping create a safe space where individuals could express emotions that aren’t always easy to put into words. It was powerful to see how creativity fostered connection, reflection, and healing.
So proud of the compassion and care they continue to bring into their clinical experiences! 🫶

Do you play Mahjong? Have you ever wanted to learn? Well then, please join us for our first UofL Alumni and Friends Mahjong Night! You do not need to be an alum to register. All are welcome!
This event is on Wednesday, April 29th, at The Miller House. It costs $30 and includes food, nonalcoholic beverages, and play. To ensure a smooth evening, we are limiting the event to 12 tables. Each table holds four people. Registration will be capped at 48 people, so don’t wait to register. There will also be a few silent auction and raffle items!
When registering, please specify the following:
1. Experience Level: Choose "Open Play" (if you already know the game) or "Beginner" (if you have never played before). We will have up to five dedicated teaching tables with instructors stationed to help new players learn the ropes!
2. Teammates: If you are registering with a specific group, please list the names of the other three players you'd like to sit with so we can arrange the tables accordingly.
We expect spots to fill up quickly, given the limited table space.

These incredible students chose to spend their break getting up early and giving back to our community partners. From organizing food and serving a meal at the Pitino Shelter, to completing a health promotion project for the HANDS program, walking dogs at the animal shelter, and helping with projects at New Beginnings — they showed what compassion and community truly look like.

They also showed great flexibility when plans changed. After finishing one project early, they jumped in to help organize our skills labs and then helped test things out with our wonderful community partner, HealthForce KY.

So proud of the way they represent our program and the heart they bring to caring for others. 🐾🏠🥣

We were honored to have UofL School of Nursing students participate in the HealthForce Kentucky ribbon cutting.
It was a great opportunity to support an initiative focused on strengthening the future of healthcare in Kentucky while representing our program and profession. 🩺
