OCTC GO FAME

OCTC GO FAME OCTC GO FAME allows students to earn an industry recognized degree while gaining work experience. What is GO FAME?

GO FAME, the Greater Owensboro Chapter of KY FAME, is pleased to announce a new opportunity for those wanting to earn a great career and a college degree at the same time and with little or no college debt! KY FAME (Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) is based on the nationally recognized Toyota Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) and Computerized Manufacturing and Machin

ing (CMM) program. This “work and earn” model allows participating students to earn an industry recognized degree while gaining valuable work experience in a manufacturing company. Interested GO FAME applicants must be high school graduates (or equivalency) and be willing to participate in the program’s 40 hour per week, apprenticeship-style format. If selected, you will attend college two days a week while working three days a week at your sponsoring company. In as little as 18 months (5 semesters), you can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree. Plus, with the practical skills you gain during your paid work experience, you may get a full-time job with your sponsoring company. Or, you may decide to further your technical education to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

Congratulations to the 2024 GO FAME cohort!

Over the past two years, these students have balanced classroom instruction with real-world industry experience while pursuing careers in Industrial Maintenance. Through hard work, determination, and hands-on learning, they have developed the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in advanced manufacturing.

We are incredibly proud of this group and thankful for the employer partners who continue to invest in the future workforce through the GO FAME program. Congratulations to all of our graduates!

We are proud to celebrate two outstanding GO FAME students, Kaleb Jones and Cole Greer, who were recognized at Tuesday’s Going Pro Signing Day for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their futures.

Kaleb Jones, sponsored by Holiday World, will be transitioning into full-time employment with the company following graduation. Cole Greer, sponsored by UniFirst, will also be moving into full-time employment with his sponsor company after graduation. Both students began the GO FAME program in August 2024 and will complete the program this May.

Going Pro Signing Day is more than a ceremony - it’s a celebration of students’ perseverance, achievements, and the exciting paths they are stepping into after graduation. Students are recognized in front of faculty, staff, family, and peers, participate in a professional signing, and have their accomplishments highlighted as they prepare for their futures.

Congratulations, Kaleb and Cole! We’re proud of your accomplishments and look forward to all you will achieve in your careers.

Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) kicked off a series of “Going Pro” events for students starting their professional careers and signing with Kentucky employers.

Held at KCTCS’ system office in Versailles, the all-day signing event served as the first of many that will be held throughout Community College Month in April at campus locations across 120 counties within the Commonwealth. Before the signing, an Industry Expo event for high school, middle school, and undecided students was held to educate the next generation of Kentucky workers about the industries and job opportunities available to them throughout the state.

“This is one of my favorite events every year because it’s a chance for us to celebrate student success but also say thank you to the countless employers that are signing our students,” said Ryan Quarles, KCTCS president.
