Congratulations to Aric Lyons ’23, who was named the 2026 Armed Forces Optometric Society (AFOS) Student of the Year! Aric is currently pursuing his Doctor of Optometry degree as a member of the UAB School of Optometry Class of 2027.
The AFOS Student of the Year Award recognizes an optometry student who demonstrates exceptional leadership, academic achievement, and commitment to service while preparing for a career in military optometry.
Aric’s selection is a wonderful reflection of his dedication to the profession and his commitment to serving others. We are proud to celebrate this distinguished national recognition and look forward to all he will accomplish!
