For the fifteenth episode (and third of the 2022-2023 academic year) of the FMI Review Show, we welcome Stevenson Sophomore Chris Morrison (an English major and FMI minor) and FMI First-Year Hannah Sobieck—both of whom serve on the Executive Board of the FMI Club—to discuss the December 2 releases of 2ND CHANCE and SCROOGE: A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The former is an animated adaptation of the 1970 movie SCROOGE and comes out on Netflix; the latter is the first documentary by noted director Ramin Bahrani and is theatrically released by Bleecker Street (and will come out on Showtime next spring). As always, FMI Department Chair Chris Reed hosts.

For the fourteenth episode (and second of the 2022-2023 academic year) of Stevenson's Film & Moving Image (FMI) Review Show we welcome FMI Junior Tana Marshall and FMI First-Year Leilani Plaza to discuss the October 21 releases of both DESCENDANT and SLASH/BACK. The former is a documentary by director Margaret Brown and comes out on Netflix, telling the story of descendants of the survivors from the last ship that carried enslaved Africans to the United States. The latter, distributed by RLJE Films in theaters and on VOD, is the debut feature of director Nyla Innuksuk, and is a coming-of-age/sci-fi tale of young Inuit girls battling not only their own hormones, but aliens, too. As always, FMI Department Chair Chris Reed hosts.

We are excited to welcome Stevenson University’s new Assistant Director of Bands and Percussion Coordinator Michael Zellers!
Michael Zellers is currently the electronics designer for the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle corps from Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining Boston’s staff, Michael served on the percussion staff of The Cadets from 2011-2015. He served as a front ensemble technician from 2011-2013 and the Electronics designer from 2013-2015. During his time with The Cadets, the corps won their 10th DCI World Championship in 2011 and The Cadets Percussion section received the Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance in 2013. In addition to his most recent work with the Cadets, Zellers has worked with the Jersey Surf and Reading Buccaneers.

Michael was most recently was the Director of Percussion at Leander High School in Leander, TX. In addition to working with the high school students at Leander, Michael is also the percussion director at Running Brushy Middle School. Zellers received his Master in Music Performance from the University of Delaware and his Bachelor’s Degree from West Chester University.

SU Music welcomes Alexa Darak! Alexa will be joining us as a new member of the SUMB this fall as well as receiving our marching band scholarship! She is majoring in psychology and will be a part of our flute section!
