Hands-on training in action at the Auto/Diesel Institute! 🛠️⚡👨‍🔧

Students in Mr. Reeves Automotive Electrical/Electronic Systems I course took on practical shop work to master the essential art of thread repair. ⚙️🔧 Proper fastener retention and clean thread ex*****on are critical when working on electrical components, brackets, and engine blocks. 🔌🔩

During this hands-on lab, students completed the full step-by-step thread restoration process:

⚠️ Drilling: Precision drilling out the damaged threads using pneumatic air drills to prepare the hole. 🌀💨

🔧 Tapping: Carefully cutting new, oversized threads using hand taps and tap wrenches to match the insert specs. 📐🔩

⚙️ HeliCoil Installation: Threading in stainless steel HeliCoil inserts to restore internal threads back to factory strength and original bolt sizes. 💪✨

Great job to everyone in class for staying focused, following eye safety protocols, and honing their precision mechanical skills in the shop! 👁️‍🗨️🛡️👏

Generous contributions like these ensure our students get direct, hands-on experience working with real-world, industry-standard equipment right in our labs. 👨‍💻👩‍💻 Our future technicians can't wait to tear these components down, master their ins and outs, and build the practical skills needed to keep the trucking industry moving. 🚚💨

Week 2 at the Auto/Diesel Institute is in full swing! 🛠️⚡🏫

Our students have been diving deep into hands-on learning across all our core subjects: Diesel Engine Theory 🚛📚, Electric/Electrical Systems ⚡🔌 (both Automotive & Diesel programs), and Automotive Engine Repair 🚗🔧.

Here is a look at what the team has been mastering in the lab and classroom this week:

⚠️Shop Safety First 🛡️: Establishing proper protocols, safe tool handling, and lab environment awareness to keep everyone safe on the floor.

🔧Tool Identification & Application 🧰: Getting familiar with basic hand tools, specialty equipment, torque wrenches, sockets, and thermal imaging gear 📷🔥.

⚡Core Electrical Principles 💡: Breaking down fundamental electrical concepts, reading circuit layouts, and understanding the core physics that power modern vehicle systems.

From studying engine components at the bench ⚙️🔩 to identifying tools and working through electrical theory, our students are building a rock-solid foundation for their careers in the trade! 🚗🚛🔧🎓
