Graduating Student Spotlight!

Pixie Mendes
B.A. Sociology; B.A. Organizational Leadership

From campus to conferences, Pixie made the most of every opportunity. After graduation Pixie is taking a trip to Canada and then attending a conference in DC on reproductive rights and gender equity.

Pixie's advice - Professors have been my #1 supporter during my academic and personal journey. It’s worth taking the time to get to know them during office hours!

Graduating Student Spotlight!

Paige Lender, B.A. Biology

Paige is headed into the biotech field - proof that persistence, support, and community matter.

Her advice to students is: Use your resources! Everyone is here to help you succeed, and without SDS, my friends and family, I wouldn't be where I am! Thank you Miami SDS for helping me succeed!

Start small. Seriously.

You don’t need the perfect plan, the full outline, or the motivation to strike.
Open the doc. Write one sentence. Take one step.

Progress isn’t always loud or visible — sometimes it’s just showing up in the smallest way. And that still counts.

Today marks the first day of Autism Acceptance Month, a time to celebrate neurodiversity, promote inclusion, and continue building communities where everyone belongs!

This spirit of acceptance was on full display in Morgan Township, OH, on March 21, as the Tonya Engel Memorial Playground was officially dedicated. Designed with accessibility at its core, this beautiful new space ensures children of all abilities can play side by side.

From inclusive equipment to thoughtful features that support sensory needs, this playground is more than a place to play; it’s a reminder of what true inclusion looks like!
