Earbuds and headphones are great...but you have to use them wisely. The 60-60 rule is the safest and easiest way to play it safe. (See what I did there?). I advocate 60-60-60, emphasizing the need to make that break from use last at least 60 minutes.

MILESTONES...

One common concern for parents about children's speech and language development is whether their child is hitting typical milestones. For example, parents often worry if their child is speaking clearly or if they’re using enough words for their age. Some other concerns might include:

Speech Delays – Parents may notice their child isn't speaking as much as their peers or isn’t using certain sounds or words by a certain age.

Language Comprehension – If a child struggles to understand directions, questions, or conversations, it can be worrisome to parents.

Social Communication – Issues like difficulty taking turns in conversation, limited eye contact, or struggling with social cues (like understanding sarcasm or emotions) can cause concern.

Stuttering or Disfluency – Some parents worry if their child starts stuttering or repeats words or sounds in a way that doesn’t seem typical.

Limited Vocabulary – If a child has a small vocabulary compared to other kids, it can lead to concerns about their language development.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – Delays in speech or unusual patterns of language use can sometimes lead parents to question whether their child might have autism, especially if other behaviors or social issues are noticed.

Have you noticed any of these in a child you know, or are you wondering about a specific aspect of language development? If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at: 513-529-2500 or [email protected]
