🇵🇭 We’re excited to see the new Angela Duldulao McPherson Museum & Philippine Cultural Arts Center now open in Port Hueneme, creating a place to celebrate the Filipino community’s history and heritage in Ventura County.
📚 The center has a special connection to Oxnard College. Its namesake, Angela Duldulao McPherson, was the mother of Ruth D. McPherson, a longtime educator and community leader who served as Director of Affirmative Action for Oxnard and Moorpark Colleges, and taught at Ventura College. A display at the center recognizes Ruth for 20 years of dedicated service to the Ventura County Community College District.
Ruth was also a leader in Ventura County’s Filipino American community. She left her entire estate to the Angela Duldulao McPherson Foundation with instructions to establish a museum and cultural center for the Filipino community. In a beautiful tribute to her mother, Ruth gave the center Angela’s name.
🙌 Today, that vision has become a reality in Port Hueneme, providing a new place for Ventura County's Filipino community to connect with its heritage and share its story with future generations.
We’re proud of Ruth’s connection to Oxnard College and our district, and are excited to see this new cultural resource become part of our community.
