From curiosity to conservation: How citizen science is teaching children and adults to see, experience nature

Snapping a photo of a plant for a citizen-science app can take mere curiosity and turn it into a wider role in scientific research and personal discovery. It may seem trivial, but thousands of people participating in citizen science can result in meaningful data for researchers, allowing them to track changes across regions and timeframes that would otherwise be limited by traditional field studies. Participation also transforms how people learn to see the natural world.

For more information, take a look at this UF/IFAS Blog post, “From curiosity to conservation: how citizen science is teaching children and adults to see, experience nature” https://blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/news/2026/04/13/from-curiosity-to-conservation-how-citizen-science-is-teaching-children-and-adults-to-see-experience-nature/.
