History
Established in 1947, McKoon Ranch began with Eldon and Alma McKoon with a diversified operation including row crops, hogs, and Hereford cattle. After graduating from Kansas State University, their son, Merle McKoon, began to take the reins over the years. He and his wife, Diane, began their life together by building the cattle program and raising their son, Ryan. He too took a strong interest in the cattle business over the years. Growing up showing cattle in 4-H, and a competitive collegiate livestock judging career, gave him the passion to continue helping his family raise quality livestock. We have injected many breeds into our operation over decades but our herd is strongly influenced by Braunvieh. Braunvieh is an original breed from Germany, known for strong maternal traits, excellent meat quality, and very docile temperament. We enjoy helping our customers find the right breeding stock or show animal and assisting them with other questions they have along the way. Merle, Diane, Ryan and his wife, Lindsey, would love to welcome you to the ranch and thank you for your business.
