Today, six students took a major step toward debt-free degrees and careers in advanced manufacturing at the annual Constellium Constellium Skilled Trades Signing Ceremony.

The seventh cohort of the Constellium Skilled Trades Scholarship Program — Matthew Balis, Jake Roberts, Benjamin Redman, Landyn Keefer, Christian Lyons and Levi Boyce — will pursue Associate Science degrees in Multi-Craft Technology or Reliability and Maintenance Technology at WVU Parkersburg, then transition directly into employment with Constellium upon graduation.

Now in its seventh year, this program is a model for what education-industry partnerships can accomplish: developing local talent, strengthening West Virginia’s skilled workforce and creating real pathways to meaningful careers — right here at home.

💙 Supporting students goes beyond the classroom.

WVU Parkersburg was recently recognized at the 2026 Mental Health First Aid Summit in Denver, Colorado, receiving an Honorable Mention during the national Impact Awards ceremony for its work in youth mental health training and trauma-informed practices.

What started as a response to a statewide program requirement has grown into a campus-wide commitment to preparing future educators, nurses, criminal justice professionals and others to recognize when someone may be struggling and connect them with the support they need.

Through Youth Mental Health First Aid training, WVU Parkersburg has helped equip educators and professionals with the tools to listen, respond and support young people with confidence and compassion.

We are proud of Dr. Megan McKnight, Dean Bobbi Marshall and the many faculty and staff members who have championed this work and represented our institution, our state and the Appalachian region on a national stage.

Because student success starts with knowing students are supported.

🌟 Student of the Month Spotlight: Abigail Eaton 🌟Congratulations to Abigail Eaton from West Virginia University at Parkersburg, our April Student of the Month!

Abigail recently passed all of her finals and is heading into her second semester of nursing school—a tremendous accomplishment. During her Spring semester clinicals on 1W, she was recognized for demonstrating exceptional compassion and respect while caring for a patient during a difficult and vulnerable time.

Heather Delaney, who nominated Abigail (pictured to Abigail’s right), shared that Abigail went above and beyond to preserve her patient’s dignity, providing comfort, kindness, and a genuine sense of humanity throughout his care.

Through every interaction, Abigail consistently demonstrated empathy and patient-centered care, embodying the values of compassion that are so important in healthcare.

We are incredibly proud of Abigail and her dedication to her patients, her education, and her future nursing career. Please join us in congratulating her on being an outstanding student and our April Student of the Month! 👏💙

Big congratulations to Engineering Technology students Garrett Flesher, Cody Harless and Zarik Westrick for becoming the first students in WVU Parkersburg’s Engineering Technology program to earn the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) credential. 🎉

The industry-recognized certification validates skills in SolidWorks, one of the most widely used 3D design programs in engineering and manufacturing. After spending the semester building 20 to 30 models and developing their design skills, these students successfully passed the rigorous certification exam.

An extra shoutout to Garrett Flesher, who earned the highest score in the group with a 92%.

This achievement not only demonstrates their hard work and dedication but also gives them a valuable credential that will stand out to employers across the Mid-Ohio Valley and beyond.

Way to go, Riverhawks! 💙💛
